There’s not really much I can add to the official description to be honest. This is one of the many products to quick detail your car after a trip to a car show where the car now looks dirty and not quite as good as it should be. The trigger on Chemical Guys products is spot on and will give a very nice mist to the bodywork.

Instructions:

The important part here is the wipe in one direction.

Application:

After an 80 mile trip to a car show, the car got dirty from driving over a very dry dusty car park. Then the trip home the car got just as dirty, but I cleaned the car the next day as it started to rain as I was almost home. Green fields were the first clean on arrival at the car show, the tarmac is my driveway for the second clean.

The product applies like a water and the scent is pleasant, certainly not an overpowering smell.

This product differs from most other detailers as this requires a little extra work. Most other quick detailers are basically cleaners, but this product also adds a layer of Carnauba wax at the same time.

Spray liberally onto the dirty area, but not enough to make the product run as that would just be a waste. A nice mist from the bottle’s trigger.

The spray pattern was heavy and closer to the paint due to the wind blowing the fine sprayed mist about.

Then with a plush microfiber cloth with long pile wipe the product gently in one direction. If the cloth is soiled turn to a clean part and repeat.

Continue to spray cover and wipe the full panel clean, then buff to a shine. Move onto the next panel using the original damp cleaning cloth, spray, wipe and buff using the clean microfiber cloth.

Removing:

You can just about make out the drying streaks of the product on the hood, less so on the roof.

After the whole panel has been wiped over, get a clean microfiber cloth to buff to a shine. The streaks as above are very easily removed. The instructions mention that a ‘light haze’ is left on the paintwork. This is the case, but you don’t have to let it cure before you buff to a shine. Just do a panel at a time and move on. I deliberately left it longer to see how it buffed up. There was no problem buffing after a wait.

Results:

Excellent.

How much did use? Not very much at all.

After the second use.

I did find that on the most stubborn of marks it was necessary to apply a second attempt and wipe over again with a clean part of the cloth.

Additional Note:

Literally, after a few minutes of cleaning the car, I was making some notes for this review and a few spots of rain started to fall. I quickly moved the car back into the garage where I took some photos of the beading.

The car did get wet on the last few hundred yards away from home on the return journey. The beading was very good then as well.that

Rating: 10 out of 10

The fact that this product has full marks just about scrapped the full mark. The fact that a second process of buffing is a new step for quick detailing could have cost the product a 9 rating. But, I like the fact it wipes on a and really does clean, then a little effortless buff to get a full shine. The fact the shine is there after a second pass on the panel is worthwhile.

Ease of use – 9 this is due to the extra buff step. If you want a small wipe on/wipe off then the CG Extreme Slick Synthetic Detailer could be the way to go for you. Also a 10 rated product from me.

Finish – 10 Excellent, a nice deep shine rewards you for your buffing efforts.

Conclusion:

A great product from CG and I like it a lot. Cost is very reasonable and I think I could get about ten or so car cleans from the bottle on a big car, depending on how dirty the car is of course.

Would I recommend it? Yes. Without question.

Would I buy it again? Yes. A new favourite product.

Update: 18/8/2019

The rain poured at a car show and I hadn’t even wiped the car down once I got there to park up. The car had dust on it from the journey to the show and back from a previous show with two weeks in between. This will give you a brilliant idea of what this detailer does in the rain, and heavy rain at that.
