Information:
I came up with a great idea of my own to write a book on Mustang collectibles, I started looking into it and this popped up. Bill Coulter had beaten me to to it by a couple of decades. I wasn’t even aware this was out there to be honest, but I’m glad I found it.
This is book that gives some history to the various car’s developments over the years from 1964 to 1999. The items shown in the book are well explained and I’m also pleased that I even have some of them.
Downside?
The listings stop at 1999 and was first issued 16th October 2002. I would love to see this brought up to date with a second edition. Hint hint Bill, we (well me) want a second edition update!
There is a great selection of items (around 200) shown in the book, but I have seen more obscure items which are not mentioned within this book. Not everything made or released is covered in this book as the items mentioned comes from the commercial aspect of collectibles. Many collectible items can now come from third parties like Avon aftershave bottles or Lego. Things related to the 1964 World Trade Fair are also desirable, especially with anything Ford on them.
With a book pointing out these items, there will be competition for me finding trying to find these things.
Upside?
A fascinating look into the Mustang memorabilia and officially licenced products from Ford. The pages are glossy and it’s a easy informative read.
Summary
I want more of the same thing. Being well over twenty years old now, the prices given in the book will have changed according to market trends. But, on the other hand it’s interesting to see how the prices have changed since publication, most of them have gone up of course.
With so much memorabilia out there what do you include and what not to include? This book can’t cover everything, but it’s a good start for sure.
I have imported quite a few items from the USA as collectibles, now I will certainly look for more things to spend my hard earned cash on.
Rating – 8 / 10
This is book is sadly now well out of date, so I have based my rating on what it would have been at the time of publication. I can’t mark it down for being an old book.
