My wife & the car

Advertisements

Quite simply this is a personal adventure where I, as a keen amateur and a self-confessed petrol head, will try to get a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe v8 289 back on the road here in the UK.

I have had the car since September 2011 and I have learned many things since then. Some good, some bad and many in theory. I plan on sharing my trial and tribulations here with you all. The good, the bad and the damn frustrating.

Patience is a virtue so I am constantly told, but in my case – it’s a hindrance. I want my car on the road and I want it there now!

My head tells me it won’t happen, my heart tells me it’s got to. It’s a juggling act, time for me to do the things that need doing, money to allow me to do things I need to and the wish list that just gets bigger and bigger.

My main love of my life is my wife; if it wasn’t for her then none of this would be happening. She bought the car for me as a hobby,  I have always talked about that great day when I drove a 1966 convertible Mustang around 25 years ago. I had never forgotten the sound, the feel- the way it made me feel.

So here it is: Darling, a massive Thank You, I love you more than the car (just!); perhaps I don’t always show it but it’s true. Technically though, you’re now a member of an exclusive club – The Mustang Widows Club!

  1. I have learned a few things from your site and still more to learn. Thank you for taking on this huge undertaking. I have a ‘66 convertible we just purchased, looks immaculate but we are finding a few things that need to be taken care of. My husband has his first car he is working on, a ‘68 Camaro.

    1. One man and his Mustang – UK – I'm just a man with a Classic 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe and an ever increasing collection of car detailing products to keep it clean. I bought the car as a non rolling project in 2011 which had been neglected, set fire to, rusted and abused. As a result of all that the car needed a bare metal strip down, a nut and bolt restoration. Four and a half years later the car was completed, on the road and shown at the UK's premier Classic Car Show, everything that was done to my car is documented here. I now have the privilege to drive one of America's most recognised cars and a true Icon, the Ford Mustang.

Hi Gina, thanks for the kind comments I appreciate it. As for a ’68 Camaro – full respect given. I do like a classic Camaro. 👍

  2. beachy117 – Coastal South Texas – I have lived in coastal South Texas (Corpus Christi area) since 1991. The slow pace grew on me after growing up in Houston. Once I made the move here, I did not want to go back to the traffic and insanity of the big city. The Coastal Bend allows for a quiet lifestyle and outdoor activities with the family. The style here is casual where wearing flip-flops can be considered formal wear— with a good pedicure, of course! Coastal Bend Life is about what is happening around here and the little things that make living here great .

        1. You beat me to it, I was in the process of following you and putting the link to my page for you too.
As for my wife she spoils me rotten, I may not tell her just how amazing she is, but she knows deep down I think the absolute world of her. 🙂
