Author: One man and his Mustang

I'm just a man with a Classic 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe and an ever increasing collection of car detailing products to keep it clean. I bought the car as a non rolling project in 2011 which had been neglected, set fire to, rusted and abused. As a result of all that the car needed a bare metal strip down, a nut and bolt restoration. Four and a half years later the car was completed, on the road and shown at the UK's premier Classic Car Show, everything that was done to my car is documented here. I now have the privilege to drive one of America's most recognised cars and a true Icon, the Ford Mustang.

As promised I have uploaded the Pertronix Flame Thrower II Ignition Kit review.

I have attached photos so you see the results here or go to the button. This is a real quality update for the classic mustangs and is worth doing if your not worried about concours restoration that is.

Today I also removed the left side fender in order to de-rust and fill. Could be a long job! My saving grace is that my man cave (shed), is big enough to allow me to work on it. I may review a tool next and attach some links to web sites I get my parts from.

Due to popular demand (OK, it was only a couple), I have uploaded a few more pictures of the day the Coupe arrived. Go to the button for the pics or click here.

It was on the back of a low loader and by the time I got my camera ready it was unceremoniously dropped onto the drive. The car was locked and the driver presented me with the docs for the car but no keys! It turned out that he had dropped them in the gutter outside, about a foot away from a drain. At the time there was one set of keys; needless to say I was not a happy chap at that point. We found them shortly after, so all was well in the end. As the car was dead; no brakes, no wiring in it and no steering wheel fitted, it was an interesting hour or so to move her about- out of the way. The car was stuffed with parts in boxes so I had to find the steering wheel in order to move her. Ever tried to push a car when the steering wheel comes off in your hand? I wouldn’t recommend it.

So I missed the big moment of the delivery on the truck I’m sad to say. But, I do have plenty more where these came from and I will upload them as soon as I get the chance.

Welcome to the inner sanctum within my own little world that revolves around a 1966 Ford Mustang v8 289 Coupe Auto.

This is my first attempt at writing a blog, a written and pictorial history of my project Pony car.

My aim is to give you an update on how things have gone, and what needs to be done. Like all these things it all depends on the money. The restoration is on a budget, and yes, that budget was breached months ago. The car is not in a road worthy condition. It looks a bit of a mess at the moment. But look past the various colours of paint and the missing bits and you will share my vision; she will be Epic.

I plan on writing about my experiences: things I have bought, and things I have found out. I want to write a review of the products, tools and anything I can think of that may help others. This site is for the enthusiast, those who are thinking of doing it and those who are just curious.

Please feel free to let me know your thoughts, things you would like and things you would rather not see. This is a learning process for me just as much as the car is itself.
