This is marketed as ‘Raw Power’ and ‘High Tech’. Graphene is an incredibly strong product and is now the new evolution for car detailing. Graphene is said to be superior to Silicon based products for it’s durability and application. This type of Graphene product is designed to tightly bond to the surface with a thin layer offering a hydrophobic barrier to your car.

  1. Preparation: Thoroughly wash the vehicle using Shelby Graphene Shampoo to ensure best results.
  2. Application: Spray Shelby Graphene Detailing Spray onto one panel at a time, using a clean damp microfibre cloth to wipe the surface in sweeping motions.
  3. Buffing: Use a separate dry microfibre cloth to buff to a deep gloss finish.

Quick detailers are marketed as a spray-on, wipe-off designed for light cleaning and instant gloss enhancement between full washes. It’s one of the easiest ways to keep a car looking freshly cleaned without using soap, buckets, or a hose, the step between waterless washing and wiping over with a cloth to remove dust and light marks.

With the above statement in mind this is not aimed at the ‘I’m out and need a quick fix to remove bird mess or remove dust that a gust of wind has whipped up from a field, or a set of finger prints from somebodies child after eating an ice cream left over my car’. Yes it has happened to me, I was not amused.

So what is it for then. To apply a top layer of protection and gloss at the time of the car cleaning or detailing. If that’s the case then a good graphene infused wax or sealant will do the job in my mind better.

It needs to be pointed out here that the instructions state: “Thoroughly wash the vehicle using Shelby Graphene Shampoo to ensure best results”. I suspect that this is more of a strong recommendation than advice.

The car was properly cleaned and dried, then a spritz of GDS (Graphene Detailing Spray) was applied to the hood. Granted it came out a little to heavy and really should have be a finer misting. Little is often more in these scenarios, over application will significantly increase your buffing work load.

Wiping over as directed I was left with a product smudge. The way to get rid of this is to buff with the a clean microfibre until it had buffed to a shine. Even then it was faintly visible and required another fine spritz and more buffing with a shorter pile microfibre cloth to get it streak free shine.

After some time consuming buffing, I eventually got an very acceptable glossy result.

Continuing to work around the car repeating the same process a panel at a time, minimal spray and plenty of buffing to get a top result. Any water that is dragged over the surface will cause another streak and will need buffing back out again which did turn out to be rather annoying.

Water beading was impressive after a light shower of rain forming tight beads that run of the car in satisfying little runs.

Once you get the application process sorted out the results are top quality with a slick and deep reflection on the paintwork, but this does come at a cost. The car has to be really clean in the first place to get the good results and you need to allow time to get the results.

I did try this detailer on my dusty and a little bit dirty Honda and it was disaster, but that was all MY own fault and certainly not a poor reflection or true representation of the product, but it’s worth noting – this is not a cleaner. I hadn’t read the instructions and took it for granted that a quick detailer would remove the light dirt or road dust and a few finger marks. It took me quite a while to get a good result again.

This isn’t the easiest of quick detailers to apply on a car and get instant top results. If you have a clean and well prepped car, the application effort is a lot less and results much easier to achieve.

For this rating I wanted to give a lower mark, just because of the pain on my first trial of this product on a dirty car. BUT, if you use this product in the way it’s intended then you will get great results, eventually.

When using this product in the intended manor and somewhat limited application, you do get a top quality finish so I have to give it a 8, but it needs work to get the results.

Ease of use – 7 out 10

Finish – 9 out 10

IF you want put the time and effort into this product you will get great results, on a clean car. But, if you are going to put that sort of effort into getting a shine on your car then a dedicated wax will do the job with little less effort in my opinion.

That leaves me with a question; where does this product sit in the detailing world? I don’t think it’s a ‘quick detailer’ as in the traditional term in the detailing world that I would use this product for. This to me is a a final barrier after a clean to keep the car clean. A ‘Graphene Sealer’ if you like which is where I think this needs to aimed at as a target market and then renamed for that reason.

This product definitely does have a place in a detailing arsenal bag, but not as a quick detailer per se. For the price point it could be seen a luxury addition to the cleaning kit.

The product does indeed repel water, dirt and dust can be quickly wiped of with a damp microfibre. However, this would be the same expectancy for a quality sealer applied to a the car after a good wax where a sacrificial layer to elements is required for longevity of gloss.

For me, at a car show and I wanted to wipe over a car if it’s dusty, a bird has dropped a load or the car has been caught out in unexpected rain, this isn’t the product I would use to make a ‘Quick Detail’ clean, even though the name suggests as such. A cracking product once you know what you want to use it for.

Finally as a side note, this product does give an amazing finish, but not quite the warm look of a carnauba wax that I like.

Would I recommend it? No. Not as a ‘quick detailer’ as this product is aimed at niche step in car detailing.

Would I buy it again? No. I would use a dedicated sealer or graphene infused wax, if I wanted it.
