I’m just a man with a Classic 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe and a collection of tools that just got bigger in order that I could do the job right. “I bought a project car, that had been neglected, set fire to the inside under the dash, rusted away in a field for twelve years and it was generally abused. As a result of that, the car needed more work than I expected, a bare metal strip down, as such a full nut and bolt restoration.”
When I first started this blog it was only intended to be a personal build diary for me on what I did and how it was done. The things I done are not the exact or proper way to do them, but it’s how I done it and what worked for me.
I’m not a trained mechanic or automotive electrician, welder, glass fitter, paint sprayer or upholsterer. Everything I have done on my car, I have been shown how to do by professionals or I have read about in books and various forums. Sometimes the answers are out there, maybe good advice or some truly bad explanations. There are numerous books and manuals published on how to restore or fix a Mustang. I have many of them and reviewed them on this site. However, I found that they specialised on certain areas and not cover the whole thing. One book may be about body work, another the engine, gearbox, suspension or electrical etc. I wanted to have a book that had it all in one place or a source of reference on the internet.
Once I started to post what I was doing and how I done it, I started to get a few questions about it. The whole website started to grow and has it has now just evolved into something much bigger. Now the car is finished (are they ever finished?), the site now covers car detailing, repairs, upgrades, accessories, memorabilia, articles, car shows and so on as it is now. The blog has evolved from just little dairy updates into a website that has everything that I would want to find in one place. I’m happy to take ideas on what I could add or update.
I then wrote this really short “About Me” :
Four and a half years later the car was completed, on the road and shown at the UK’s premier Classic Car Show, everything that was done to my car is documented here. I now have the privilege to drive one of America’s most recognised cars and a true Muscle Car Icons; the Ford Mustang. I’m still sane after all the blood (literally), sweat and tears, so would I do it again?
Oh yes!
What I said still stands, my car makes me smile and I’m part of a amazing classic car community.
