What You Get:

Ergonomic bottle with a great trigger. The two pictures here are the same product, one says ‘ultimate wash & wax anywhere’, the other says ‘ultimate waterless wash & wax’. I’m not sure what is going on here, but the Meg’s website only has the ‘anywhere’ listed, but other websites shows the ‘waterless’ version. As you can see I have both, and the waterless was the last batch I bought. I can’t say for sure what is the latest version of the product. They both look identical, smell and feel the same. More importantly of course is that they perform exactly the same.

Product Description:

This synthetic product is designed to clean the car from a light layer of dirt without water. If you have caked on mud then this isn’t the product for you. You would need to wash the car properly. This is intended to be a maintenance clean, top up wax before a trip out or quick spruce up at a car show to keep the car looking clean and fresh.

Instructions:

I would recommend some deep plush pile cloths for this waterless wash technique. Short pile cloths will lift the dirt away but not as far away as deep pile. The further the dirt is away from the paint then safer the clean will be.

Application:

This is a simple wipe on and wipe of product. The recommendation is to use one cloth and use it for both cleaning and buffing. My preferred method is one cloth for cleaning and another cloth for the buffing. That way the cloths are keeped separate with no risk of buffing with a dirty cloth.

My car had been to a car show where dust and pollen was in the air and settle a light film over all the cars at the show. Then a five minute shower of rain made things a lot worse when the rain quickly dried out.

The spray application has a beautiful mist action as you expect from Meg’s triggers.

Meguiar’s:

Ensure vehicle is clean and dry before application. Spray a light mist over approximately half a panel at a time, the spread with a fresh microfiber towel and buff off to a high-gloss shine.

Mine:

What is the weather like? Your answer to the question will determine how you use the product. If it’s hot you will have less time to apply the product before it dries out, thus smaller working areas, or more product but that is a bit of a waste. By letting the product dry out it will leave a very faint streak on the paintwork. I have marked either side of the mark.

However, this product can be used in hot weather, but you will have to work that bit quicker. That is a big advantage to other similar products that require cool panels.

Removing:

Meguiar’s advised me at their detailing bay to wipe in a single direction to remove the dirt. I found a little spray onto the cleaning cloth before using it on the car works well, especially if you are single direction wiping.

The dirt picked up very easily and this was just the roof, it’s blatant to see the brown pollen and dust removed.

Once you have cleaned the panel or the cloth is dirty, turn it over to a clean bit of cloth. Now you can see why I say to use a couple of separate cloths.

This pic is from the hood or bonnet.

The more you use the product to wipe the panels down the less you need to spray as the cleaning cloth is damp with product.

How much did I use? Well Meg’s reckon that you can get three to four cars out of the bottle. I would say that was about right, maybe five for a small car. This pic was taken after cleaning the Mustang.

Results:

Truly excellent. On a cool to the touch panel this is top of products. But, on a hot day it takes a little more familiarity with the product to get the best results. If you do happen to get a streak, then simply wipe over again and it’s gone. No big deal, but it’s a second attempt. The resulting gloss is deep and shiny and beads very well when wet. I expect it to last two months maybe three.

Rating: 9 out 10

This was originally going to be a 10 result, but due to the very quick evaporation point, especially in the heat it’s not quite perfect. If this was a fraction slower this would be my perfect ‘Waterless’ wash. You have to work quickly for optimal results. But, as you can indeed use this in the heat and sun, it gets the extra point back for sure. Other products get more of the problems in the heat. So, I carry this product with me all the time to car shows to use when hot or cold, and when cooler weather I have a choice of another product which is carnauba based or this synthetic product.

Ease of use – 9  Wipe on and wipe off. Just avoid letting it dry out to quickly.

Finish – 10  Top quality.

Conclusion:

A great product. It works very well and is very handy to use anywhere. I was extremely sceptical about these waterless wash and wax products. I carefully checked the paint and used them only when I had to like arriving at a car show. But now I use them more than I use water.

Would I recommend it? Yes.

Would I buy it again? Yes. I already have many times.
