One litre of yellow coloured Banana scented spray wax in a clear bottle supplied with a trigger.

A spray on wax product applied directly to the panel to provide a layer of proper old school carnauba wax for a deep gloss shine. With the Mirror Image Car Care products they are coloured, this is yellow as you would expect from a banana inspired product. I really like this branding and approach. When all lined up on a shelf they look great too. Once you get to know the brand’s colours it so easy to pick it up by colour rather than reading labels. Each MICC product has it’s own identity.

Observation: There is a line in the sales pitch ” which was packed with polymers to give your paint that wet look finish”. What is River? I get it was a polymer additive, perhaps an early product? I can’t find any mention of it on their website to confirm. So is this a hybrid or only carnauba based spray wax?

Well that depends depend on where you’re looking, the two lots of instructions should correspond with each other, but they don’t.

The Website says: “Apply Deluxe [sic] directly to the bodywork a panel at a time after your vehicle has been washed & dried using a clean microfibre cloth then buff for a high gloss, silky smooth, wet look finish using a clean buffing cloth”

The Bottle says: “Shake bottle well, Simply Spray on, wipe in, Leave for 30 seconds and then buff out to a deep gloss shine, store at room temperature”.

Also reading the instructions on the website they don’t actually make a lot of sense as one long sentence. This isn’t an English lesson so I only care if the product works or not.

For me the bottle instructions look right and that’s what I used for my my waxing experience.

A warm day with overcast cloud with sunny intervals. The panels were warm to the touch, but not hot.

The trigger had no issues, there spray was consistent and gave a nice even mist of product over the surface of the paint. I used a short(ish) nap microfibre cloth to spread and wipe the product in straight lines up and down the panel. Working on a single panel at a time.

After application and working the product on the panel, there wasn’t much to see apart from the surface looking slightly damp. The photos taken at the time didn’t really pick up the difference on a black car.

The consistency was liquid rather than a cream squirt product onto the panel. This allowed the product to be moved and spread around the panels evenly. On the vertical panels the misted on product didn’t run down and off the panel.

I then left the product for the thirty seconds after spreading and wiping around the panel..

Amount of application? The instructions don’t say, but from experience you don’t need much as you’re applying a layer. Soaking the area won’t make it shine anymore, additional shine is achieved by layering a wax. A light misting of the panel is enough to be moved around with the cloth you are using. An applicator pad I don’t think would be the right choice, maybe for smaller areas. But a roof, hood and doors would take longer than the thirty seconds to ‘cure’ by the time you get from one end of the panel to the other then back to buffing.

The subtle scent of banana was so good and didn’t over power the working space. Sometimes even the nicest of smells can be overpowering in enclosed spaces, I was in the open and could still smell the scent.

A one litre bottle is lot to hold, the five hundred millilitre would be easier for smaller hands, but the bigger bottle is the better value.

A dream. The buffing was effort less and slickness caused me a problem; I wanted to take a pic of the bottle on the hood, but it kept sliding down and I had to quickly snap this. Slightly out of focus, but you get the idea.

For the buffing I was using five hundred gram top quality nap cloth. Keep flipping the cloth to use a clean part for buffing. This approach meant that there was no streaks or marks left behind. The picture below I was trying to capture the before and after application.

The front wing (fender for our over the pond guys) and the drivers door was applied and the rear passenger door and quarter wasn’t. I think you can see the warmth of colour between the two doors. The photo was taken to be as equal as possible for the light reflections.

After my Honda CRV SUV was waxed, a little does go a long way! I marked up the line after the wax application. I reckon an easy fifteen to twenty car wax per bottle on this SUV. On our Smart car even more.

Impressive. I’m getting sad I can’t find anything wrong with the product and the pics speak for themselves.

The gloss and slickness were great and certainly on a level with some paste waxes I have used, and certainly better than quite a few spray products I have used in the past. The whole car only took about twenty to thirty minutes to apply. The secret is to keep fold and flip the cloth to avoid any drag or bogging down of the cloth.

Longevity is unknown at this point. But, after a couple of weeks the beading is still there along with the gloss. It has rained a couple of times and I took a few photo’s in the evening. The beading was tight and when the water tension was not enough to hold the bead, it ran straight off the panel, (below top right).

I can’t believe it’s another top mark product from these guys.

The application was so easy, the buff to a shine was just as easy. The gloss was top quality and the slickness I wasn’t expecting to be as good as it was. I can’t think of anything negative to say about the product apart from the bottle was heavy, but that was what I ordered and certainly not their fault.

Ease of use – 10 out 10

Finish – 10 out 10

I purchased this with my own money as this not a sponsored review!

It’s well known that I’m not a fan boy of any particular brand; I buy the product what works for me no matter who makes it. But every product I have used so far from MICC has been top quality.

A cracking product for a spray wax, with little effort to get a great shine. If you have rough or poor paint, then it will only be glossy to a point obviously. The price point is right where a lot of the big branded products are, but for less product in their bottles. So this makes it an exceptional value product and with the quality of finish and ease of use is worth the money.

I’m still a paste wax type of guy, I find it therapeutic to apply and buff. But, this spray wax is up there with some paste waxes I have used in the past and a lot less hassle. For a weekend warrior or for a well kept daily driver who wants great results in a short space of time, here it is. I won’t need to be buying this again for a while, as it’s economical and little does go a long way.

Would I recommend it? Yes definitely

Would I buy it again? Yes definitely
