What’s On The Menu?

For a while now I have been aware of an issue on some mobile phones when looking at my Website, but not sure how to fix it. The issue started when I had to change my ‘theme’ as it was no longer supported. What happened with the new menu was that the drop-downs didn’t show correctly with the font colour. I got hold of WordPress ‘Happiness Engineer’ who kindly fixed it for me (mostly) with some behind the scenes code. The menus showed as light grey and populated with white text. I’m not aware of it being an issue for everybody, but it annoyed me that it happens on some phone (size related apparently). At the beginning of the week I got hold of another happiness engineer again over different issue, they couldn’t give much help with that one, so I created a work around with buttons instead of embedding. While I had him on the chat I asked about the colour menus, they didn’t want to fix it as it was “a CSS issue”, even though somebody previously kindly fixed it in the first place to get the menus to work. In the mean time I had been fiddling around with AI just for the sake of it and decided to put the issue into the AI app test it out. I took a screen shot of the phone’s menu and then the CSS code that was being used by WordPress, described the issue and let it get on with it. After a minute or so of the AI working out the code it told me what was wrong. I then asked it to give me the new CSS code and some step by step instructions to change the code, which the app duly did for me. Following the guide step by step I pasted the new code in to the ‘Additional CSS’ file. I did a preview and it worked fine, I then saved it and all is good in the world. Pretty impressive really.

The image left is what some were getting and the right is now what it should have been.

Hopefully the menus now work now for everybody. Then I thought I would play with some photos that were uploaded and told it to give me a burn out and an evening neon lit diner. The results aren’t perfect, 6 spoke wheels not 5, bumper overrides and rear quarter ornaments, smoke from front tyres etc, were wrong, but they’re good fun.

Now back onto my soap box: I had an issue with the increasing lack of respect for cars on shows especially last year. People touching them, opening doors, running their fingers along the paint, kids with sticky fingers etc. With that in mind I promised a Car Show Etiquette Guide to help spread the word and I’ve finally produced one. Yes it’s a bit late at the end of the car show year in the UK, but it’s done.

I not interested in and don’t want any credit for the flyer, it’s not about that for me. The point is to try and educate people a bit more about our pride and joy. Even if the organisers of the show(s) print one out and display it on the way in to the show for the public, perhaps they may read it and save an owners car and frustration. Put it on websites for future car shows, let’s raise awareness and make it viral. Saying that, being as Car shows is such a small niche market, it’s very unlikely that it will go viral! If there is anything that you think needs to be changed or amended please let me know and I will be happy to update and repost the files.

The downloadable versions are: JPEG image, Word and PDF files to choose from, click the buttons below.

Here is what the flyer looks like:

Let’s spread the word!
