Pedal Wasn’t To The Metal

On my way home from the last car show I felt something weird under the right foot. The gas pedal assembly itself was fine, so there was no issues. The problem was the actual pedal pad was moving around at the end of the assembly. I have driven a car without the pedal itself and just using the assembly arm, it feels weird, but it’s possible. I guessed what it was and I was only a few minutes from home. If it was any longer a journey I would have stopped and took the pedal off completely. This could wait until I got home.

It was pretty evident what the issue was as soon as I looked in the footwell and I was right. The pedal was hanging off which was a little annoying, but a straight forward fix, providing the thread in the assembly wasn’t stripped.

Removing the pedal was a quick wiggle and it was off. The bolt is asymmetrical which has a head at one end and a pin at the other end which locates into the other side of the pedal’s bracket, once screwed through the assembly itself.
