Last book review?

Its late again, I’m in trouble for staying up working on my blog. But my wife does understand that sometimes the Mustang takes over my life and it seems to be one of those nights. I will make it up to her so don’t worry.

Anyway I have posted another and my last book review that I have regarding Mustangs. If I get anymore I will also review them too. The last but not least is “How to restore your Mustang, 1964 1/2 – 1973”. It’s a great manual and a favourite of mine. I will move on to the more practical side of the restoration now. Go to the button for the review or click here.

If the weather is ok this weekend I will try to get both fenders on. I will let you know how it all goes.

Don’t forget to vote on the polls, and keep warm!

New and improved poll!

I have on my other pages “Forums and Discussions” pictures of Mustangs throughout the decades. The page has had a bit of interest but not much in the way of comments so far. I was asked if I can add a poll instead of leaving a comment. Your wish is my command! The improved part? The poll now has pictures added to see what you are voting for. The fact that there are bigger versions above doesn’t matter because they are worth looking at again anyway. I have added those same pictures from the sister forum pages onto the Poll menu just to the right, or click here to vote.

Hope you like the pictures as well as voting for your favourite model Mustang. Who will be the most popular?

Vote and find out 🙂

It had to happen at some point!

Here I am sitting in front of the PC and I am updating the pages. I started to play around with the Poll pages. It grabbed my attention so I thought I would have a play around with it. As a result I have proudly added 2 polls that are just for fun. I reckon there could be more! 🙂

Any that you would like to see in particular?

The first and most importantly – What is the best car chase in a movie?

The second – What do you like most about Christmas?

The first poll about the car chases I intend to leave running for a while and the Christmas one, well its only a few days away now so it will go in the new year obviously. But it gives you plenty of time to vote. So hit those buttons and see if anybody agrees with you! The polls are just to the right under “Polls just for fun”. Enjoy.

I Can’t believe it – 3 updates in a weekend!

Bonus weekend

Well I have been tidying the man cave up and getting ideas in my head in order to review or comment on. The fenders were a tiny bit tacky but workable. Not sure if that is what Carplan Tetroseal mean by dry. I removed the shower curtain from under the fender and rolled it up.

Tip: If you are going to spray I use a shower curtain that are real cheap to buy and spray on that, the spray wont go through as its water proof!

I have added the review of the Ring Solar Battery maintenance charger here and another book not a manual this time; Mustangs 1964 1/2 – 1973 review here, or you can get them from the menus to the right. Take a look and leave a comment or put in a request. I have added another forum page to enable you to put requests in for things I could review, thats if I have them of course or will be getting them.

I will probably try to get the fenders on next weekend and get the front grill sections ready for rubbing down and filling.

Last good weekend before Christmas?

They say make hay while the sun shines, I say “Restore Mustang when you can!”

Well the weather looked cold and chilly, but it wasn’t to bad after all. Only a coat and fleece on today to keep me warm. Lets hope the winter is not to harsh like they say it’s gonna be. Worst for 100 years no less. I will still be out in the man cave doing bits I can.

I promised a review of the Carplan Tetroseal Underbody Sealant, I have used it and reviewed it. After all the things I had read about it the hype didn’t in anyway stand up to my usage tests. In fact very disappointed; perhaps I should have spent more and bought something else? The POR15 is now my undercoat. Nothing on the forum pages I posted there to advise otherwise about this stuff. Maybe something else would have been just as bad, or better. I will never know now. What I do know for sure is that when I put the rear quarter panel on I will use the real thick rubberized coatings and research a lot more or ask me ‘ol mate Adam at Mustang Maniac. Read the review here or from the links on the side.

I amy review another book and post tomorrow, I only have two left now to review. Perhaps a tool of some sort. perhaps I will keep you guessing.

Remember, if the sun is out – get the tools out!

It's just like a giant lego kit!

Making up for lost time

I’m not sure what my head is doing, it’s telling me it is absolutely fine to stay up late and work on my blog!

The next morning I feel like somebody has had a rave in my head and I then hurt. No it’s not a hang over before I get some sarcastic comments back thank you!

I call it devotion to my readers, so I am posting a review of one of my favourite manuals, it’s not to pricey and is a great upgrade based book with some classic elements within it, such as body alignment etc. Take a quick look at “Classic Mustang Restoration, Repair & Upgrades” in the book section or click here.

This weekend I intend to upload a few pics of the new bumpers, my Christmas presents from the wife. I should also do the underseal Carplan Tetroseal review as well to see what it’s like. Follow the link to the forum pages and leave a reply for any ideas on underseal or anything that you want to see discussed. Halfway through the week, that means we’re on a wind down to weekend!

Massive update to the web page!

It’s stupid o’clock when I sort of finished most of the updates!

Whats the update?

Well, it’s a brand new forum and discussion link to a new sister page for the One man and his Mustang (.com) website.

The link called “Forums & Discussions” is now at the top of the side bar on the right. There is also a hyperlink to bring you straight back here again too.

I was asked a question in the comments page but I didn’t have an answer. That gave me an idea – Forum. Simple hey? err no!

(stick with me for the quick techy explanation).

The fact I am using a nice piece of software to host my blog it does not allow me to add “plug-ins”. To keep it simple I can’t create  any forums or discussion pages directly of this site for security reasons. But, I have researched all day (while out shopping), and most of the evening for an answer. I think I have found a work around. Basically I have now a sister site that links to my main site (this one), the sister site page style does allow for a more recognisable forum style update and discussions. The styles are a little different but I have tried to keep the associations as close as possible to one another.

The downside –

You as in the readers of this won’t be allowed to create the pages yourself. To get round that I have created a category of “Ask for your topics here” from a nice drop down. This will allow you to post a comment on there for things you want to see or discuss. Once it’s (as your requested topic) has started up then can post to your heart’s content on it. I plan on letting these pages run themselves with the odd chip in from me! I am allowed!

The upside –

I get to keep an eye on what gets posted, there are some people out there with strange ideas.

Updates to this site –

For a little bit of a fun I have added a countdown timer on the main site, see what you think. I may keep it there for other things, it all depends on the feed back I get!

Added a picture to the side bar of the good guys at American Autowire who have linked me on their Facebook page with that response.

Note to self – get used to calling my sites main site and forum site!

Note to self again – go to bed and re-read this before you post it!

Enough Techy Stuff – Cars

I was out all yesterday – shopping, so I missed out on some valuable Mustang minutes. I made up for it today with the second coat of POR15 on the inside of the fender. No point in pics at this moment in time (I have taken some though) as it don’t really look that much different. The man cave was freezin’! Michelin man was out again in force, but at least I was warm. As I was good boy yesterday, shoppin’.  Today I was allowed to go and get my Christmas Present; Front and Rear bumpers from a new friend of mine. They are gonna look the dogs dangly bits when I bolt them on. While I was there I was looking all around his K code 1965 fastback. Nice!

As a result of the missed Mustang minutes yesterday I will have to review the Carplan Tetroseal next weekend.

Take a look around at the new forum site, start a conversation or tell me what you want to see. Have a look at the post Old School or New School from the categories selection drop down box, it’s a comparison of most of the Mustang models over the years, whats the best looking?? Let me and the rest of the internet know your favorite!

Sorry for the late posting but I had few bugs to sort out and give the best user experience posdible.

Who would have thought it?

Well after all these years I have now finally joined Facebook! The page is a business page and not a personal page, with any luck the regular visitors to my blog who have Facebook will “like” the page and share it.

My aim is to get a conversation going on the blog for the visitors and followers. You can leave messages on Facebook or Twitter regarding my blog if you prefer. Lets get the word out there that one man and his Mustang are still working towards getting on the road. More apps to look at and more apps to use the battery up on my phone.

It’s midweek so it’s count down for the weekend. I have had some Carplan underseal arrive today. I will use them on the inside of the fenders for that extra protection. I may even review it if anybody is interested. Let me know!

Another weekend gone!

I have had a good weekend all things taken into consideration. Yesterday was cold, I looked like the Michelin man with all the layers on. I managed to paint the inside of the right hand fender with the first coat of POR15. I will apply the second coat next weekend and then both fenders will be ready to put back on. I am going to get a nice set of fender bolts from my mate Adam at Mustang Maniac so they look good as I don’t intend to keep taking them off!

I have added a tool review for a Fat Max screwdriver which is a nice bit of kit. I was dragged out shopping late on Saturday after I had cleaned the fender. As a reward I was bought a little storage case for all my Dremel bits and pieces. The larger case now holds all the fittings for both the fenders. Result.

Thanks to my wife again for spoiling me! But, in my defence, I didn’t have any road rage, I didn’t moan about the number of shops we went in and I didn’t moan about the shops we went back too. So maybe I deserved it, you tell me! 🙂

I have just updated this post to say that I have added some of the right hand fender work I have done this weekend. It’s unbelievable the difference between the left fender (click Here) and right fenders (click Here). I will add the first coat and second coat pictures once I have finished it. But have look and see the difference.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

More Fender work and another book review

Today was cold, wet and miserable. So that could only mean one thing!

Playtime in the man cave and work on the car fender. I wrapped up warm, two tee-shirts, one jumper, one fleece and one old work coat. Ok I was warm but I looked like the Michelin man! I managed to knock off the old cracked underseal on the wing, and use the drill with a wire brush attachment to remove the loose and flaky bits. The old bits of road tar came of in no time. I had fun and games trying to remove the aerial though. The previous owner had tried to remove the damaged ariel and had rounded of the screw head! cheers for that. So I had to drill the centre out to get it out. Still, out now and the prep work has been done. Tomorrow I will put the first coat of the POR15 on with any luck.

I have added another book review “Mustang 1964 1/2 – 1973 Restoration Guide”, not really a book, but more of a collection of exploded diagrams. It’s an awesome manual and one of my favorite reference guides to see what went exactly where. Go to the link button or click here.
