Links added

For some strange reason my links had disappeared, so here we are at stupid o’clock in the morning and I have just added them back. Again.

The links are for Mustang Maniac, American Autowire and Mustang Medic.com

Click on the links and see what they can do for you.

Hopefully all is back in order now, if not it will have to wait till tonight.

Fantastic American Autowire review is here

At long last I have uploaded my review of the fantastic American Autowire 64 – 66 Mustang Classic Update wiring kit. Click here or go to the parts review button.

I have tried to keep the review factual, and explain my pretty good experience with the kit itself,  along with the brilliant after sales service that went above and beyond anything I had experienced at the time. If you are thinking of rewiring you classic this is worth the read and see if you agree.

This weekend I hope to add another book review along with some more pictures of my Autowire close up installation work.

Don’t forget to leave  a comment or rate what you read.

Tool review also added

Another update.

I have had a good evening so I have also managed to add a tool review for a pipe bending tool. Go to the button for the review or click here. It’s only a small review as there is not too much to say about them. My next update will be the American Autowire wire kit review. I have some small tweaks to do on the review and add the pictures to it. I have a book review I am also working on that is a particular favourite of mine.

Hopefully I will get the Autowire review on this week if not I expect to get the book review on there.

A change of mind!

I was going out to reattach the driver side fender and remove the right hand side fender. As I was undoing the bolts I remembered that I only put it together at the time with some cobbled together nuts and bolts. As a result it was all a bit loose.

So, in a moment of madness I decided to take the lot off and put it all in my shed to be worked on. It will all get the same underside treatment as the fenders, and then fill the dents and smooth out the bumps. If anybody wanted to come round to look at the car they wont see the gorgeous lines of a classic car, just a few heavy gauge chassis parts and the interior of an engine bay. I have left the hood on in order to hold the cover on. Take a look at what a Mustang looks like with no front body work! Go to the photo’s section for the “Front end body work removed” or click Here to go straight to it.

If all goes well I may be posting a tool review a bit later too.

New book review & fender update

I have just added another book review for: Mustang Restoration Tips & Techniques. Go to the button for the review or click here. So have little look and rate it as well as all the other reviews. I have already had a little feedback and the dark look theme is getting the nod of approval.

Inspected my fender today in the light. Noticed a couple of little patches I missed. Added the missing second coat. While I was at it I decided to add a THIRD coat to the parts of the fender that has holes for the badge work. That should seal it up good and proper just in case.

Note to self:

Don’t paint when it’s getting dark or install lights to my sanctuary that be my shed!

Revised Site

Can you tell I have been sitting here trying to make the site look a little better? I have been asked if the site would look better in a darker theme. I looked into it and agreed. I have changed the header, the title a little and added rating stars. Let me know if it should stay or go back. The public is to decide this one. The other advantage of a darker theme is that on a mobile not having to show the lighter colours wont take up as much battery juice. Thinking of my followers all the time!

I have also added some more pictures to the “Day the Coupe arrived” set of photos. Go to the button or click here. The extra photos are of the trunk where stuff was just thrown in there. You can see the original wiring how it was found by me. Go to the button or click here.

Fender Pictures and Tool Review

Today I have finished the inside of the left hand fender and treated it with the POR15 Rust Prevention system. Go to the button for pics or click here. You will be able to see the difference very easily. The inside being ready is just the first part of the process for the fender, I will have to fit it to the car and line it all up with the door etc. I will apply some POR15 underseal as well just to go over the top and be safe and add that final layer of protection, at the time of writing this I don’t have any but I will soon! Once that is done I will then start the process on the outside to remove any minor lumps and bumps and treat the small area of surface rust at the very bottom of the fender on the outside. The advantage here is that I will be able to cover it with the running strip that was originally on the car.

Secondly I have added a tool review for a pair of wire strippers. There was a hard lesson learned here when I bought my first set of wire strippers. Have a read and find out why. Go to the button for the review or click here.

As always please leave a comment or follow me.

More pics added and another book review

Another update to the blog, I have added the wiring photos of the car when I got it. When you see the photos you will understand why it was not running. Go to the button for the pics or click here. I knew how it was when I bought the car, but when you look at the other parts under the dash I didn’t quite realise what an epic journey I was about to undertake. American Autowire was the way to go over the Painless wire kit. I will review the American Autowire kit soon and explain why them. I have added a personal favourite of mine in the book review section and find out why I like it so much.

Please keep coming back and let me know what you like or don’t like, leave a comment. Leave your email address and be sure never to miss an update.

First Tool Review

I have updated the tools sections with a Blue-Point Flaring Tool TF5A review.

Go to the button for the review or click here.

Let me know if you are finding these reviews helpful or there is something you want to see. This site will continue to improve and become a good source of reference. Well, that’s my plan anyway. Above all though, this will be a documented journey of one man who knew very little about classic car restorations and his Mustang. The learning curve is more like running into a brick wall it’s that step. All the little things that should be simple turn out to be more difficult than you think. I am learning all the time, and each little job I complete is a step closer to her being road worthy. Am I looking forward to smokin’ those tyres? What do you think? 🙂

First part review

As promised I have uploaded the Pertronix Flame Thrower II Ignition Kit review.

I have attached photos so you see the results here or go to the button. This is a real quality update for the classic mustangs and is worth doing if your not worried about concours restoration that is.

Today I also removed the left side fender in order to de-rust and fill. Could be a long job! My saving grace is that my man cave (shed), is big enough to allow me to work on it. I may review a tool next and attach some links to web sites I get my parts from.

Have a good weekend.
